ASUS unveils 24.5-inch Tandem WOLED monitors with up to 720 Hz
Redactie · October 28, 2026

ASUS is adding two compact OLED gaming monitors to its ROG Ace series. The Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace reaches 720 Hz, while the Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace tops out at 540 Hz. Both pair a 24.5-inch Tandem WOLED panel with Full HD: a combination aimed primarily at competitive shooters, rather than providing more desktop space or greater image detail.
Full HD at up to 720 Hz
The main difference between the two displays is their refresh rate. At 720 Hz, the Swift can display a new frame roughly every 1.39 milliseconds; on the 540 Hz Strix, that interval is around 1.85 milliseconds. This is the time between refreshes, not your system's total input lag.
ASUS lists a gray-to-gray response time of 0.02 ms for both models. That is a manufacturer specification; no independent response time or input lag measurements were provided. Both displays support variable refresh rates and ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur.
- Panel: 24.5-inch Tandem WOLED with a TrueBlack Glossy finish.
- Resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels.
- Refresh rate: 720 Hz for the Swift, 540 Hz for the Strix.
- Color reproduction: 10-bit and 99.5% DCI-P3 coverage, according to ASUS.
- Peak HDR brightness: up to 1700 nits, according to the manufacturer.
- Warranty: three years, including OLED burn-in coverage.
Tandem WOLED and different connectivity options
The panels use two stacked light-emitting layers. ASUS claims higher brightness and a longer lifespan than conventional WOLED panels. Testing will need to establish how that translates to everyday use. The quoted 1700 nits also needs context: this is peak HDR brightness, not a guaranteed full-screen brightness level. ASUS also notes that the peak value can vary depending on color calibration.
The Swift gets DisplayPort 2.1 with UHBR20 and 80 Gbit/s of bandwidth. The Strix has DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression. Both models also feature two HDMI 2.1 ports with 48 Gbit/s of bandwidth and a headphone jack. OLED Care Pro and a Neo Proximity Sensor are included as well.
Settings for a repeatable setup
Markings on the base and stand help you recreate your height, tilt and swivel settings. The Swift goes further with a Position Sensor that displays height, tilt angles and the distance to the user on screen.
Both monitors also offer a quick-access menu for settings including brightness, shadow enhancement and saturation, plus color presets for shooters such as CS2, PUBG and Valorant. The Swift has been named the official monitor of the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026. ASUS has announced availability for both displays, but has not provided European pricing or a specific release date for the Netherlands.
What does this mean for you?
These monitors are primarily worth considering if you play competitive shooters and your PC consistently delivers very high frame rates. Do not just look at your graphics card: your processor can also be the limiting factor at Full HD. For more varied gaming, the trade-off is different. A higher resolution may be more valuable than the jump from 540 to 720 Hz. Without pricing and independent measurements, it is too early to say which Ace model will be the smarter buy.
