Samsung’s Galaxy Fold brought flexible OLED technology to consumer devices, but it remains the only major player in foldables. However, Google may change that with its rumored Pixel Fold, which is said to have a heavy body but the largest battery of any current foldable phone. Foldables are naturally heavier than flat phones due to the larger display and the bulk needed to accommodate the second screen and hinge.

The Pixel Fold is expected to weigh close to 300g, approaching the weight of small tablets like the iPad Mini, due to the larger battery capacity of just under 5,000 mAh. This may result in better battery life, but the phone’s custom Tensor G2 ARM chip may affect its power consumption.
Despite Google not confirming any details, leaks suggest a similar price tag to Samsung’s Z Fold 4, around $1,800, and an expected release later this year. The Pixel Fold will give us a glimpse of Google’s take on foldable software, which could be its unique selling point if battery life doesn’t turn out to be exceptional.
