Sharkoon Skiller SGH50 Overview
We had the chance to test and review the Sharkoon Skiller SGH50.
Here are the box contents:

What immediately stood out was that the Sharkoon Skiller SGH50 comes with 2 extra ear cushions and some fun stickers to decorate your gaming setup :). The Skiller SGH50 feels light, with plastic earcup housings and sides that appear to be aluminium. The ear cushions themselves are soft. My first impression is positive, although I need a little time to get used to the plastic. While it makes the headset much lighter, I am not sure whether it benefits the sound quality. We will test that shortly, of course. First, let's look at the specifications.

Setup and Use
Setting up the Sharkoon Skiller SGH50 headset is straightforward. You connect it via a 3.5mm jack. The microphone plugs into the headset, but note that it only fits one way to ensure a secure connection. I am not entirely sure why they opted for a detachable microphone. Personally, I do not see much need for it right now, although I can imagine removing it when taking the headset with you to prevent damage. I did not need to install any drivers or anything else. I could not find any either, so there is no software for adjusting the headset's settings. Let's call it Plug & Play. I immediately tested the sound and launched a game. I was quite pleased with the audio: solid quality! The headset itself also surprised me somewhat. The Sharkoon Skiller SGH50 looks pretty slick. The only thing I find less attractive is the visible wiring, but that is not really a problem, just a personal preference.

The Sharkoon Skiller SGH50 headset also comes with an extra set of ear cushions. These use a slightly different material, and having a spare set to replace the originals after a few years is always useful. Another nice touch is the twist-lock mechanism on the headset's 3.5mm connection, which keeps the 3.5mm plug firmly in place. This helps prevent it from accidentally coming loose.
In short, setup is simple and the sound is pretty good. To give you an idea of just how good… I jumped straight into Battlefield 6. Compared with my Steelseries Arctis 7, which is getting a little old, I found the sound crisper, with clearly audible bass that adds another dimension to the game. That really surprised me…. It immediately makes playing feel different. I do need to get used to the 3.5mm connection and the lack of software, but it actually does the job perfectly well.
Conclusion:
The Sharkoon Skiller SGH50 headset is competitively priced, available for as little as EUR 56. I find the sound quality decent, which makes up for a lot. At this price, the headset is a good buy if you do not want too many bells and whistles: simply plug it in via the 3.5mm jack and start gaming or listening to music. By that, I mean there is no software involved, so it is plug & play. The extra ear cushions are a big plus. The headset is surprisingly light and sits comfortably on my head. I would not call this a budget headset, but rather a step above one.
Verdict
