Latest Nvidia GeForce drivers cause high CPU usage, fix coming soon

Extremetech reports that the latest Nvidia GeForce drivers cause high CPU usage, but a fix is expected soon.

Driver version 531.18 reportedly increases CPU usage by around 10% to 15%, specifically due to one or more instances of the ‘NVIDIA Container’ process.

The feedback thread linked below lists the following known issue:

• Higher CPU usage from NVIDIA Container might be observed after exiting a game [4007208]

For now, avoid this driver version (released on February 28) until Nvidia releases a fix. Check the feedback thread here on Nvidia's website, and watch for new versions here.

Other users in the thread also reported numerous blue screens of death (BSODs) and some in-game issues, providing further reasons to avoid these drivers for now.
