HATOR Hypergang 3 Wireless Review: I Expected Nothing… but Wow, That Sound!

An unfamiliar name, but an ambitious player

Today I'm reviewing the HATOR Hypergang 3 Wireless (colour: black). I'm told HATOR is a major player in Ukraine, but it wasn't a familiar name to me, and perhaps the same goes for many of you reading this review. To quote the About section on HATOR's website: ”HATOR’s founders set out on a mission to revolutionize the gaming industry—motivated by a desire to always be ahead of the game.” So they want to transform the gaming industry, driven by a desire to keep improving and stay one step ahead. That sounds promising and sets a positive tone for what I can expect from the HATOR Hypergang 3 Wireless headset. There are also USB and 3.5 mm versions. Each has a different price: the wireless version costs €119.00, the USB version €64.99 and the 3.5mm version €49.99. You also get a choice of three colours: white, black and violet!

Introduction:

My thoughts on this headset took quite a few twists and turns. When I unboxed it, everything inside felt well made. It's comfortable too, which I consider one of the most important aspects of a headset: it should fit your head properly without becoming irritating after 3 hours or simply feeling uncomfortable. Other things I look for in a good headset are clean sound and a microphone that works well and conveys your voice clearly. The Hypergang 3 already ticks the comfort box. My initial impressions after unboxing were positive overall. It's also worth knowing that the Hypergang 3 Wireless comes with noise cancellation and is the only one of the three versions to offer it. You can also connect the headset to an app on your phone; this feature is available on the wireless and USB versions in the Hypergang series.

Everyday use:

I had 4 weeks to test the headset, giving me plenty of time to put it through its paces. I had to charge it twice, using it for an average of 6–8 hours each day. That lines up with the specifications provided by HATOR. Don't forget that you can also charge the headset via USB while you play.

Sound:

Let's start with the sound. To quote HATOR's website: “Hi-Res Certified 40mm Drivers – Powerful, neodymium-magnet drivers deliver rich, detailed sound from 10Hz to 44kHz for full immersion.” That certainly promises excellent sound. It sets expectations for rich, detailed audio spanning 10 Hz to 44 kHz. In short, a fully immersive listening experience! And it delivers, because WOW, the sound coming out of the HATOR Hypergang 3 headset is incredible. It's clean, detailed and exactly what you'd hope for.

Please note: The 3.5mm version and the USB headset use 53mm drivers.

You can pair the headset with the HATOR app to adjust the frequencies and fine-tune everything to your ideal sound. Spatial audio is particularly useful in FPS games such as Valorant. If you know the maps reasonably well and hear footsteps on one side, you know exactly — and I mean exactly — where someone is. It's such a satisfying, enjoyable experience. The sound is excellent! I've never heard spatial audio this good on a headset. It's genuinely remarkable, and that's why I recommend it to gamers!

Noise cancellation:

First, it's worth explaining what Hybrid ANC means. ANC stands for Active Noise Cancellation, which reduces outside noise or even blocks it out entirely. I found the noise cancellation decent enough, but it's important that the earcups properly cover your ears to get the best results. As HATOR puts it: the system performs impressively across a wide frequency range, particularly at low to mid frequencies (up to 2 kHz) – perfect for gaming, working or travelling. A good seal around your ears is therefore essential. During testing, I sometimes struggled to get it right.

Microphone:

That brings us to the final point I want to discuss: the HATOR Hypergang 3's microphone. I always use an external microphone rather than the one on my headset or earbuds. It's a tricky comparison, because spending a decent amount on a dedicated microphone is different from buying a headset, where your money goes towards several features. A fair comparison is therefore difficult, but you can still assess whether the quality is good. Here's a tip right away: make sure you update the firmware first.

Before the update, my friends said things like: “Abel, you sound like you're far away from your microphone,” or: “Oh, we're not used to this level of quality from you”.  At that point, I wasn't impressed with the mic. Don't get me wrong… I was coming from a standalone mic with good specs. After the firmware update, though, the hiss disappeared and my voice came through clearly. I found it difficult to locate the firmware update option, so I'll try to explain it as clearly as possible: Once you've downloaded the app and paired your headset, tap the three lines in the top-right corner of the home screen. You then need to switch to another language. If it isn't the language you want, switch back after the update. This is the only option, because you access the firmware update by tapping the language you currently have selected.

In short, the people you're talking to can hear you clearly — it's just not as clean as I'm used to. As I said, it's a slightly unfair comparison. Ultimately, what matters is that you're understandable and your voice comes across well, and the firmware update sorted that out. It's also worth mentioning that the mic is detachable. You can still use the built-in mics without it, although their quality isn't as good.

Conclusion:

The HATOR Hypergang 3 Wireless stands out above all for its excellent sound quality and comfortable fit. The Hi-Res drivers and 3D audio deliver an experience that will genuinely impress you, especially in shooters. Battery life is strong, and the build quality feels great. Noise cancellation is reasonable but could be better in my view, while the microphone can't match a good standalone mic, making this a less-than-ideal choice for travel or serious voice chat. If you're unhappy with the microphone quality, a firmware update is definitely recommended. Are you primarily looking for a gaming headset with excellent sound and a comfortable fit? Then the Hypergang 3 Wireless is an easy recommendation. If you'd like to add more colour to your headset, you can also adjust the RGB lighting through the HATOR app.
