Google Pixel March 2023 Feature Drop: new Android features revealed

The March 2023 Pixel Feature Drop changelog has leaked, according to 9to5google.com. Here is a rundown of the updates:

As in December, the Pixel Feature Drop covers both phones and watches. The main addition for wearables is Fall Detection, which is rolling out through a server-side update and has been available to a wider audience since last Friday.

The updates for Pixel phones are relatively modest. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are getting faster Night Sight, allowing users to capture low-light photos more quickly thanks to new algorithms powered by the Google Tensor chip. This improvement was first announced for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. In October, Google said Night Sight could produce sharper, more attractive low-light images with just half the usual exposure time.

Direct My Call is also now available on models from the Pixel 4a through the Pixel 5a.

Health Connect is now preloaded on Pixel phones with the March 2023 Feature Drop, a change introduced by Android 13 QPR2. Previously, users had to download it from the Play Store. Google also announced last month that Magic Eraser was expanding to all Pixel phone users as part of its Google One announcement.

This information comes from a Google changelog intended for partners. The March 2023 Feature Drop may include other smaller Pixel updates not mentioned in this summary.

As of Monday afternoon, Google had not yet announced an official release date for the update. However, the February 2023 Google Play system update has already been released.
